Suki came to us after we made contact with Chris Baillie who then introduced us to Sally Lafferty of Yllastel Tibetan Spaniels.
Sally was exactly the type of breeder that both Chris and I had been looking to obtain a puppy from.- Breed and health aware, kind, knowledgeable and raising the pups within the home as part of the family- perfect!
Suki’s mother is Bufy - Yllastel Buffy The Dreamer which was very touching for us as I was losing my own Buffy at that point so it somehow made a connection for us. Her Father is Champion Tibbylands Solo, Best Of Breed winner at Crufts 2011 and top winning dog of the year. Who could ask for more?
Inquisitive, wilful and somewhat disobedient Suki was a typical puppy! Loving, playful , patient and kind with our grandchildren she was an exceptional puppy!
It became apparent from a very early age that Suki was made for showing! Sally had started her training at an early age so by the time I had taken Suki to ring craft a few times she was completely and utterly at home in the show ring. Indeed Suki is known for her particular manner of striding round the ring as if she owns it, daring the judge to look at anyone else. At just four an a half months old Suki won Reserve Best Puppy In Match at Ilfracombe and District Canine Association - the very first time the Kennel Club had allowed puppies to compete under 6 months old. She was only beaten by Logan her best friend Malamute who she went on to swap places with many times over!
Once Suki reached six months I began showing her both at Open Shows and Championship Shows with the odd Companion Show for good measure to spend picnic days with family and friends. To her credit Suki qualified for Crufts fifteen times during her first year of showing and although shown much less in her second year due to seasons, hair loss etc she still managed to qualify at almost every show she attended.
At the open shows she has clocked up many Best Puppy in Breed, Best of Breed and Group placings. I think I am not wrong in saying she has won
Reserve or Best Puppy in Show at virtually every Companion Shows we entered. To see her list of achievements please visit the “ Results” page.
